PRINTABLE GUIDES & HANDOUTS:
ONLINE RESOURCES:
- Animated Tutorials: General Biology, animated multimedia tutorials with quizzes on key concepts in biology.
- On-Line Biology Book, "An excellent Online Biology Textbook designed for the Internet. It is a virtual textbook that provides information on topics such as basic chemistry, cell biology, thermodynamics, enzymology, metabolism, protein synthesis, genetics, bacteriology, botany, zoology, paleobiology, evolution, diversity, and ecology." --MERLOT description.
- Tree of Life Web Project,"a collection of information about biodiversity compiled collaboratively by hundreds of expert and amateur contributors. Its goal is to contain a page with pictures, text, and other information for every species and for each group of organisms, living or extinct."
- A Tree of Life, from the journal, Science Tree of Life Special Issue; this online version of the diagram includes links to a variety of resources, including definitions, photos, etc., from various sources.

This resource is not fully functioning yet, but "ultimately, the Encyclopedia will serve as an online reference source and database for every one of the 1.8 million species that are named and known on this planet, as well as all those later discovered and described." It's goal is to have "actual authenticated species pages available by mid 2008." View its demonstration pages to see what is to come and check back soon.
- The eSkeletons Project, "is devoted to the study of human and primate comparative anatomy. It offers a unique set of digitized versions of skeletons in 2-D and 3-D in full color, animations, and much supplemental information."
- Visible Human Project, from the National Library of Medicine, "is the creation of complete, anatomically detailed, three-dimensional representations of the normal male and female human bodies."
- WebAnatomy, "a collection of study aids for entry-level anatomy and physiology students" from the University of Minnesota; includes self tests, timed tests, interactive activities and an image bank, along with links to other numerous resources.
- IUCN Red List of Threatened Species, from the World Conservation Union, which fosters research and understanding of the world's ecosystems and the threats that they face.
- Terrestrial Ecoregions of the World, from National Geographic; identifies regions based on shared ecological features, climate and plant and animal populations.

- Food and Nutrition Collection, of the USDA's National Agriculture Library lists numerous nutrition related resources.
- MedlinePlus: Nutrition, from the National Library of Medicine, includes links to various resources, such as research articles, related articles, tools, etc.
- The Big Picture Book of Viruses. In spite of it's juvenile-sounding title, this resource offers a catalog of virus images including detailed descriptions, searchable by virus name or family, genetic structure, host, as well as other options. This resource also includes links to other related resources.
- CELLS alive!, includes numerous interactive illustrations and animations, video, and more.
